RRB Technician candidates under CEN 02/2026 are in the middle of their exam week: admit cards were released from 2 October and the computer-based tests run from 6 to 9 October 2026. If you are reading this before your slot, use it as a checklist. If you have already appeared, skip to the part about what happens next. About 6,557 posts were notified for Technician Grade I (Signal) and Grade III, though one report says 6,565, so treat the exact number as approximate until you see the official PDF.
Last updated: 9 October 2026. Facts below are compiled from published reports and may change, so confirm on rrb.digialm.com and your regional RRB site before you act.

Quick status
Admit cards were released batch-wise, roughly four days before each exam date, according to the report we checked: the 6 October exam from 2 October, 7 October from 3 October, 8 October from 4 October, and 9 October from 5 October. The same report has a few small inconsistencies, such as whether the 9 October card was already out or only expected, so if your card is not visible, check again on your own regional RRB website before panicking.
How to download your admit card
- Open your regional RRB website, or rrb.digialm.com where the link is hosted.
- Click the admit card link for CEN 02/2026.
- Log in with your registration number and the password or date of birth, depending on what the page asks for.
- Check every detail, then download and take at least two printouts.
Login details are described differently across articles, so follow what the actual login page says. If the password has been forgotten, use the recovery option on the same page with your registered email or mobile number.
What to check on the admit card
Look at your name, photo, signature, date of birth, category, exam date, shift, reporting time and the full centre address. Reporting time and gate closing time are not in the coverage we saw, and they are the details that differ for each shift, so read them on your own card. If the photo is blurred or the name is spelled wrongly, contact the helpdesk number printed on the card before the exam day, not on it.
Exam pattern, as reported
| Post | Subjects (100 questions, 100 marks) |
|---|---|
| Technician Grade I (Signal) | General Awareness 10, Reasoning 15, Basics of Computers and Applications 20, Maths 20, Basic Science and Engineering 35 |
| Technician Grade III | Maths 25, Reasoning 25, General Science 40, General Awareness 10 |
The report calls this pattern indicative, which is a polite way of saying it may differ slightly in your exam. Use it to plan the last revision, not to bet your strategy on exact numbers.
Documents and things to carry
A printed admit card and a valid photo ID are the essentials. Follow the instructions on the card for anything else, such as a passport-size photograph. Avoid bringing electronic items, and keep your pen requirement in mind: in computer-based RRB exams, rough sheets are generally provided at the centre, but the rule on your card is the one that counts.
Day-before and exam-day routine
- Sleep properly. A tired mind loses more marks than a missing chapter.
- Reach the centre at least 45 minutes before the reporting time, especially if it is in another city.
- On the screen, attempt the sure questions first and flag the doubtful ones.
- Keep an eye on the timer after every 25 questions, not after every question.
After the exam
Once the exams close, RRBs usually publish the response sheet, the answer key and a window to raise objections, followed by the result and cut-off. Dates for these are not in the coverage we saw, so we are not stating any. Save your login details, because you will need them again. When the result arrives, we will cover it in our results section.

If your exam date is clashing or your city is not shown
Write down the helpdesk email and phone number given on your RRB website, and raise the issue at once with a screenshot of your registration details. Late complaints are almost never resolved. Similar admit card steps apply to other exams too, so our general guide to downloading an admit card may help, and you can keep track of other big exams in the admit card tracker for October 2026.
How multi-shift exams are scored
When an exam runs over several days and shifts, as the Technician exam does, the question papers across shifts are not identical, so the difficulty can differ. Recruitment boards usually deal with this by normalising scores across shifts, so that a candidate in a tougher shift is not at a disadvantage. The exact method is described in the board notice, and the result may show a normalised score and not your raw one. That is why comparing your raw marks with a friend from a different shift does not tell you much.
Why the answer key matters
If the board releases a response sheet and an answer key, use them. Match your marked answers, calculate your raw score and be ready for a possible challenge window. Challenges often carry a fee per question, so use them only when you are sure. Keep a screenshot or a note of the question and the source supporting your answer.
Managing nerves between papers
Nervousness is natural in a recruitment exam where thousands of candidates compete for a few posts. A few practical tricks help: breathe slowly for a minute before logging in, read the instructions on screen once, and do not discuss answers outside the centre. If you feel stuck on a question, flag it and move on. The point is to collect the marks you are sure of before spending time on the ones you are not.
What to do next
Keep your login details safe, keep an eye on the regional RRB site for the response sheet, and avoid unofficial websites that claim to give result dates. If you are also preparing for other railway exams, see the railway calendar and the RRB ALP guide to plan your next target.
A note on unofficial answer keys
Within hours of any big exam, coaching institutes and YouTube channels publish their own answer keys. They are useful for a rough idea, but they are not official, and they disagree with each other on doubtful questions. Do not make big decisions, such as skipping the next exam, based on an unofficial score. Wait for the board response sheet and the official answer key, then calculate your marks carefully.
