This is our running list of government jobs that are open or opening soon in October 2026, grouped by the date they close so that you can plan your week. It links to a detailed guide for each recruitment, and it separates what is confirmed from what is only reported. Government recruitment news travels fast and gets distorted faster, so use this page as a map and the official website as the final authority. If you are new to the site, the quickest way to use it is to scan the closing dates, pick the notices that match your qualification and open the guides one at a time.
Last updated: 9 October 2026. Dates are compiled from published reports and may change. Confirm on the official website before you apply.

Exams and admit cards this month
For exams in progress, see the admit card tracker. It covers RRB Technician (6 to 9 October), IBPS Clerk prelims (10 and 11 October), SSC CGL Tier 1 (till 28 October), UIIC AO prelims (22 October) and more. The railway exam calendar lines up every RRB exam, and the results tracker collects results and answer keys.
Expected, but not yet notified
- SSC MTS and Havaldar: reported as expected in October. See SSC MTS 2026.
- RRB Group D (Level 1): a notification may come around October. The result of the earlier cycle is expected in late October, see RRB Group D result.
- Maharashtra Police Bharti: a new cycle is expected around November and December, see status.
- IBPS RRB and SBI Clerk: some calendars list exams in November, which are tentative.
How to use this list
- Filter by qualification: Class 10, Class 12, ITI, diploma or graduate.
- Check the closing date and the eligibility conditions in the guide and the official notice.
- Apply to the earliest deadline first.
- Put each last date in your phone calendar, with a reminder two days earlier.
What to prepare before you apply
Keep your Class 10 and 12 certificates, degree or diploma, category certificates, Aadhaar, photographs and signature scans in one folder. Check that your name and date of birth match across documents. Make sure your mobile number and email are active, since boards send admit card and verification messages there. Keep a bank account or UPI ready for fee payment.
How we choose what to list
We list recruitments that are open, closing soon or likely to open, and we mark the ones that are only reported. We do not list rumours. If a detail is not published, we say so. You can read how we work in our editorial policy.

A weekly planning template
Government job hunting works best with a fixed weekly rhythm. On Sunday, open this page and list the notices closing in the next two weeks that match your qualification. On Monday, read the official notices and make a checklist of documents. On Tuesday and Wednesday, complete and submit the forms for the earliest deadlines. On Thursday, update your preparation plan for any exams that are close. On Friday, check admit cards and results. On Saturday, rest and review. A rhythm like this prevents the usual pattern of missing a deadline and then rushing three applications into the final day.
Which notices to skip
You do not have to apply to everything. Skip notices where you do not meet the qualification, where the age cut-off date excludes you, where the location is not workable for you or where the selection stage involves a requirement you cannot meet, such as a driving licence or a sports certificate. Every application takes time and sometimes a fee, so apply to the ones that give you a real chance.
Plan around exam clashes
When you apply to several recruitments, put the expected exam months next to each. If two exams are likely to fall in the same fortnight, decide which to prioritise and prepare for that one first. Overlapping syllabus helps: reasoning, maths, English and general awareness are common to many central and state exams. The more you build these fundamentals, the more recruitments you can handle.
Keep an eye on extensions and corrigenda
Last dates are sometimes extended, vacancies revised and eligibility corrected. These changes are published on the official website and often reported late elsewhere. If an application you have submitted is affected, check whether you need to do anything. We update this page and the linked guides when we find a change, but the official notice remains the final word.
Tip: set alerts the right way
Use your phone calendar to set two reminders for every last date: one a week before and one two days before. Add the notice name and the website in the reminder note, so that you can act without searching. For exams, add the date of the admit card release and the result as well. This small system is more reliable than memory and works even if you are busy with other work. Keep the calendar entries even after you apply, because the next steps, such as admit card and exam date, follow the same rhythm.
Check eligibility before reading anything else
Before you read a whole guide, check three things: the qualification, the age on the cut-off date and the last date. If any of them does not work for you, move on and save your time for the notices where you have a real chance. A short, strict screening beats a long, hopeful one.
Share carefully
If you share a job link with friends, share the official notice or our guide that links to it, not a screenshot of a table. Screenshots get outdated and spread wrong dates.
